Food Insecurity

1 in 10 Families

STRUGGLE IN THE US TO PROVIDE ENOUGH FOOD FOR THEIR MEMBERS

Nutritious food costs $200 to $400 per month per family, and the average low-income family allocates nearly $2400 a year to ensure adequate nutrition.

Food costs rank as the 4th highest household expense (after rent, utilities, and healthcare) for families addressing food insecurity.

Schools may offer meals during term time, but during summer and spring breaks, families often need extra help to provide consistent meals for their children.
